LABS Contemporary Art is pleased to announce its participation in the 17th edition of Drawing Now Art Fair which will be held from 21 to 24 March 2024 at the Carreau du Temple, in Paris.
For the occasion we present the solo show by Greta Schödl, born in Hollabrunn, Austria, in 1929, she moved to Bologna in the late 1950s.
She will be presented at the 60th Venice Art Biennale, entitled “Stranieri Ovunque - Foreigners Everywhere”, curated by Adriano Pedrosa, which will be held from the 20th of April to 24th of November 2024; she has already exhibited in 1978.
Active since the 1960s, she has taken part in many exhibitions such as the São Paulo Biennale in Brazil in 1981. Her works can be found in various national and international collections as well as in several museums, including the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome, MART in Rovereto, MAGA in Varese, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington (USA).
Schödl has honored visual language for the past six decades. Her work involves the repetition of letters and symbols, until they become abstract. To the words, illuminated with gold leaf, are added geometric shapes and strong signs that unfold on different surfaces: pages of botanical books, maps, papers, leaves, pieces of marble, sheets, which all bring memories of past existences.
