Elvira Amor born in Madrid in 1982, where she lives and works.
She holds a degree in Fine Arts in Castilla-La Mancha in Spain and her long stays influenced her artistic practice, developing interests in non-occidental traditional techniques. Her study of shapes and colors is revealed as fluid profiles. In her painting, indeed, Elvira Amor searches for a pre-verbal language, approaching traditional themes of abstract painting. For Amor, painting is a physical manifestation of mental images constructed from the surrounding environment: objects, floors, walls. Her art explores the atmosphere created by a group of objects and their impact on people and spaces.
Gesture and color are inextricably linked, and her work conveys the pure joy of painting. In her works on paper and canvas, Elvira fully immerses herself in the pictorial language. Her brushstrokes extend beyond the canvas, transforming into architectural forms or dissolving into expansive lakes of color.
"In my practice I work with color and form, I think of painting as that mental image that is constructed from what is visible, the environment around, the floor, objects, walls. I am interested in the atmosphere that a group of pieces gives off, and how they impact people and space."
