Milan Vagač was born in Bratislava in 1987, he is now living and working in Prague.
His work stems from a reflection on the relationship between humans and technology.
In contemporary aesthetics, the viewer is increasingly captivated by the seductive surfaces of devices without questioning their internal workings, so Vagac investigates such attitude: through the medium of painting, the artist creates illusory surfaces of abstract devices. The surfaces of his works are only partially painted, thereby revealing their structural elements. By rejecting the work’s two-dimensionality, the artist exposes its hidden layers and structures.
Vagač is interested in how most users approach a device that appears visually appealing and progressive; they tend to focus on its surface, viewing it merely as a shell, while remaining indifferent to its contents and the essential internal components.
