Henry Chapman was born in Brooklyn (NY) in 1987, where he lives and works.
He trained at Cooper Union (NY), where he was awarded Young Talent of the Year in 2013, and at Yale University, where he completed his MFA in 2015.

In Chapman's paintings, description embodies time: notational, calligraphic, and extra linguistic. His research is attentive to the interaction between forms and in his works current, social and political issues and problems emerge with a surprising strength given by the use of color.
