On Saturday, October 3, 2026, LABS Contemporary Art Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Genuardi/Ruta (Antonella Genuardi and Leonardo Ruta), entitled Il più bel Deserto del Mondo (The Most Beautiful Desert in the World), curated by Giuliana Benassi.

Long characterized by a stylistic research focused on the physical and symbolic encounter between space and light, in this solo exhibition the duo takes the exhibition site as its starting point to create an imaginary landscape, responding to the gallery’s previous function: a single-nave church, traces of which remain in the sacristy.

With this perspective, the exhibition is conceived as a garment for the space, revealing a possible earthly sacredness metaphorically evoked by the resilient image of a flower blossoming in the desert, whose miracle and beauty emanate strength and perseverance. The exhibition’s title is borrowed from Le plus beau Désert du Monde by Philippe Diolé, which invites us to perceive, in the small point of light, the illumination of darkness.

Inspired by this suggestion, the exhibition takes the form of a single installation, conceived by the duo as an exploratory journey offered to the visitor. Its “compasses” are the forms, colours, and materials selected, which together evoke an absolute dimension in which space, time, and the symbolic dynamics reflected within them are reconfigured.
