On September 27 the gallery presents a group exhibition “PEOPLE I KNOW” featuring the works of Lucia Cristiani (1991, Milan), Finja Sander (1996, Hildesheim), and Elisabeth Sonneck (1962, Bünde). Three artists from different generations and backgrounds, brought together by a shared focus on the relationship between body, matter, and space, intertwining installation, performance, painting and sculpture in an open and layered dialogue.
Elisabeth Sonneck, active in Berlin since 2001, develops a pictorial and installation-based practice focused on long rolls of paper and found elements. Her works, often site-specific, transform space into a chromatic field, triggering an immersive and constantly shifting perception.
Finja Sander, winner of the UdK Berlin Art Award 2023, uses the body as both catalyst and performative tool. Her works unfold across performance, sculpture, and installation, probing the ambivalences of daily life and the political gestures embedded in collective rituals. In her most recent series, fragile yet menacing objects such as glass crowns set memory, violence, and processes of commemoration into tension.
Lucia Cristiani, based between Milan and Sarajevo, focuses her practice on the relationship between landscape, memory, and identity. Through organic materials and states of transformation, her works merge the intimate with the political: surfaces becoming ecosystems, sponges transmuted into bronze, mud shimmering like a starry sky.
The exhibition unfolds as a journey where the three artists’ practices, while distinct, intertwine in a shared fabric: an attention to the fragility and resilience of matter, to collective and individual memory, and to the body as a relational device.
